Real Friends Written by Shannon Hale, Illustrated by LeUyen Pham

Hi everyone! I have a really good recommendation for you today! So, who here likes graphic novels?

Last week I started reading this graphic novel called Real Friends. It is written by Shannon Hale, and illustrated, by LeUyen Pham. Shannon Hale and LeUyen Pham have worked together (along with Dean Hale) on the Princess in Black series. I think that it is really cool that they worked on Real Friends together, too!

I love this graphic novel, and since about a week ago, I have already read it 6 times!

Real Friends is a “sort-of memoir” as I like to call it, because it is based off of true events that happened to Shannon Hale in her childhood, but is not 100% accurate. Some events were altered slightly, some people’s names were changed, and of course, some parts might not have been remembered exactly how it happened. Because, after all, it’s all about perspective...

Women's History Month Recommendation

Happy National Women's Day everyone! I want to celebrate today by giving you all a recommendation for a great book, that goes along with the theme of influential women. The book is Women In Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World by Rachel Ignotofsky. This book is very inspiring and tells tales of amazing women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and their achievements. This book opened my eyes to many incredible women (most of whom, I admit, I had never heard of) who have made an impact on our world today! I would recommend this book to all of you, even if it were NOT Women's History Month. I enjoyed this book because it not only tells these women's stories through words, but illustrations and quotes, as well.
Have a great day! And don't forget to celebrate!

One of My Favorites...

Hello world! Have you missed me? I'm sorry that I haven't written a post in FOREVER, so I have decided that I am going to make this post extra special! I am not only going to include a trailer of one of my favorite books that I have read this year, but I am also going to talk about something that I have been doing all year.

This year I have been trying really hard to read 150 books. I know, that it's a bit of a lofty goal considering that I have to follow my rules.

Rule 1) Every book that I read has to be a book that I have not read before this year. For instance, if I read the same book twice this year, I cannot count it twice. But if I haven't read the book in a couple of years however, and I read it again THIS year, I can count it.
Rule 2) I have to read the book all the way through for it to count.
Rule 3) I do not count picture books. Yes, I know. Picture books are books too, but if it counted every time I read one of those, I would be done incredibly quickly, and I want to make this a real challenge!

Right now I have read 134 books following these rules. I know I may not make it to my goal, but I am still going to try!

Today I really want to show you a trailer that I made for one of my favorite books! It is called Some Kind of Happiness  by Claire Legrand. I read this book a couple of months ago, after reading another book by Claire Legrand called Foxheart. I had really enjoyed Foxheart, and so I decided to read Some Kind of Happiness.  You are probably getting tired of reading all about me, so now I invite you to watch the trailer that I have made for the wonderful book.... Some Kind of Happiness!

I invite you to post one of your favorite reads this year, in the comment section below! Happy Holidays!

Fairy Tale Reform School (1) Flunked by Jen Calonita

Hi everyone! I read the first book in the Fairy tale Reform School called Flunked by Jen Calonita, and I thought it was super cool. It was about this girl, named Gilly, who is a bit of a thief,--well, actually she definitely IS a thief--and she always got away. Except the time where she didn't. And that failed attempt at escape was what got her sent to (dun da da dun!)

FAIRY TALE REFORM SCHOOL

Fairy Tale Reform School is basically a place where all the "bad kids" in the fantasy world go. The school is taught by former fairy tale villains like Cinderella's stepmother, The Big Bad Wolf, the Evil Queen, Sea Witch, ect.

The book is a really fun read, and I thought that the twists were great, and I did not see them coming! Well, I suppose that is the point of adding a twist....... anyway, all I am trying to say is..... I LOVED this book!

PS There is a second book! It is called Charmed!!!
