Sticks & Stones, and Bubbles by Abby Cooper

Hello everyone! A couple of days ago, I finished reading a book called Bubbles by Abby Cooper. This is Abby Cooper's second novel, and after reading the book, I realized I never wrote a post for her first book, Sticks & Stones. Then I thought, Hey! Why not write a post for both of the books?! Today, I am going to do just that!

First off, Sticks & Stones is about a girl named Elyse. Her whole life, the words that people use to describe her appear on her limbs. She learns to cope with the words, and is okay with them. For the most part. Over the course of her life, those words have gone from making her feel better, to making her feel worse. The mean words make her arms and legs itch. Not a good feeling.
Elyse discovers that not only do the words other people describe her with appear on her arms and legs, but that the things she thinks about herself in her head are starting to appear too. Most of the words are not comforting. Then, Elyse receives an anonymous note that says, "I know who you are, and I know what you're dealing with. I want to help." Elyse makes it her mission to discover who is writing the notes. Will Elyse find out the note writer's identity? Will the hurtful words disappear? The biggest question of all is, will Elyse learn to accept who she is?

On that note, Bubbles is about a girl named Sophie, whose life has recently been turned upside-down. Her mom lost her job and broke up with her boyfriend Pratik, leaving her mom as a different person. Worst of all, Sophie believes it is all her fault. When her friends Kaya and Rafael decide that they three of them will be competing in a triathlon for a school project, Sophie adds another thing to pile on top of her shoulders.

In the midst of her confusion, Sophie discovers she can see other people's thoughts. Out of the middle of nowhere, a bubble will appear over someone's head telling her what they are thinking. Cool huh? Anything but. The bubbles only give Sophie more to think about. More to worry about. Some of the things she sees can't be true. Can they? Seeing thoughts is a lot to handle. Will her life ever go back to the way it was? Can it even? Or will Sophie have to find a way to learn if the bubbles always tell the truth?

I highly recommend these books for people who enjoy realistic fiction, with a touch of the impossible! I hope that you enjoyed my post for Sticks & Stones and Bubbles by Abby Cooper!

Stay tuned for more awesomeness,

Greek Girl
